Peugeot 208 GTi (;)

According to the British press, the French carmaker is set to bring back the GTi badge, which was axed back in 2009, with the Peugeot 208 GTi. The initial Peugeot 208 GTi info has also surfaced the web today. Apparently, the Peugeot 208 GTi will be a hybrid hot hatch, powered by a 1.6 liter turbo gasoline engine developing just under 200 hp and an electric motor good for an additional 36 hp. The Peugeot 208 GTi will be all wheel drive, since the petrol engine will power the front axle while the electric motor will “electrify” the rear axle. The Peugeot 208 GTi will be able to reach a top speed of 250 km/h after it will rocket from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds.

Our British sources believe the Peugeot 208 GTi ill be the most technological advanced hot hatch of its time, and quite the head turner. The Peugeot 208 GTi will wear a distinct aerodynamics package, big rims, and large brakes. The Peugeot 208 GTi will also have a sporty and rather rigid suspension for improved handling. It will even have a roof spoiler and a center exhaust. This Peugeot 208 GTi info is pure speculation at the moment.

The European market launch of the most expressive and dare we say, beautiful Peugeot of the past decade or so, saw the French automaker releasing a trickle of photos of the new RCZ sports coupe that you can enjoy in high-res quality after the break.

Revealed in production form for the very first time at last year’s Frankfurt Show, the RCZ is one of those few cars that made it from concept to production virtually unchanged. And if anything else, Peugeot should be applauded for its bold decision to do so.

The French 2+2 seater compact coupe, which challenges the more simpler looking VW Scirocco and Audi TT, is offered at launch with a choice of three engines: a 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol available with 156HP or 200HP (the same unit is used on the MINI Coooper models) and a 2.0-liter turbo diesel with 163 ponies.

Whichever engine you select, you get a standard 6-speed manual gearbox that transfers power to the front-wheels, while the 156HP 1.6 THP is also offered optionally with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Peugeot Hoggar

A new challenger is entering Brazil’s lucrative small pick-up truck market as Peugeot’s South American arm introduced the Hoggar today. Designed in Brazil, the pint-sized model is a pickup-truck version of the domestic market 207 supermini, which has nothing to do with the European 207 hatch as the Brazilian model is based on Peugeot’s previous generation 206 hatch.

According to the French automaker, the Hoggar that borrows its name from Peugeot’s funky 2003 beach-buggy concept has a load capacity of 1,151 liters and a payload of 742 kg or 1,635 pounds. Peugeot’s Fiat Strada and Chevrolet Montana rival will be launched in Brazil in May with two fuel-flex four-cylinder engines with a displacement of 1.4-liters and 1.6-liters.
